Event Details

Having just released this important social documentary theatrically in NYC, LA and SF, Ignite Productions with Digital Media Factory and Grass Rootz Cafe are excited to bring it back home to Santa Cruz for a special ONE NIGHT ONLY screening.

Are we all brainwashed? Or, have we lost our minds?

Since the late 1950's subliminal content and technology is said to have been tested and delivered through all forms of mass media, at an ever-increasing rate.  The advertising, film, television and music industries, political propaganda, even the US military are allegedly involved.  All of which points to the bigger question: why?

Why has consumer debt in America risen over 50% since 1990? How is it possible that the United States consumes about 25% of the world's natural resources while only making up 4.5% of the global population? Are we all part of an elaborate social experiment to control the masses?

"PROGRAMMING THE NATION?" delves beneath the surface of marketing and propaganda to examine the issues, presents both sides, and allows you to decide.

Featuring Live Q&A with Santa Cruz Filmmaker Jeff Warrick

Program:  7:00: Film, 8:30: Director’s Talk, followed by audience Q&A

COMPELLING.  Warrick's impressive line-up of interviews, inventory of footage, and vintage ads, roll behind his well-crafted story.  We are left to ponder, ‘How deep does the game go and who are making the rules?’ Warrick proves he can go the distance to get the story."  -- Char Easter, Seattle Examiner

"Profoundly disturbing, as ambitious as it is provocative."  -- Kevin Thomas, LA Times

"An altogether eye-opening, comprehensive look at the sinister side of a corporatedly       'programmed' nation..."  -- Robert Levin, The Atlantic

"Serves as a vital wake-up call and manages to be simultaneously entertaining, provocative
and enraging..."
 -- Avi Offer, NYCMovieGuru.com
